Tre Kronor assisted recreational sailors in distress

2026-05-22

Tre Kronor af Stockholm received a message at 08:47 via the 112 app, followed shortly by a general VHF call from the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) regarding a leisure boat in distress. Tre Kronor's captain, Lars Palm, immediately set course for the incident site and prepared for all possible interventions. The vessel was then approximately 2.5 nautical miles from the distressed boat, which was adrift in the sea south of the Sörmland archipelago.

Upon arrival at the scene, contact was made with the distressed vessel, a sailboat with a broken mast. Fortunately, everyone on board was safe, and they simply needed a tow to port. Tre Kronor therefore remained on standby, awaiting other units to take over. A pilot boat and sea rescue units arrived after approximately 20 minutes, allowing Tre Kronor to continue its voyage towards Nynäshamn.

Approximately 20 minutes after Tre Kronor's arrival at the scene, a pilot boat arrived, followed by the Swedish Sea Rescue Society, which took over the operation.
