The purpose of the association is to support and promote the construction, operation, and maintenance of the brig“Tre Kronor af Stockholm.”We do this by manning the ship, handling a large part of its annual maintenance, and opening the ship to the public through our working groups.

Become a volunteer

You are welcome to join the Briggen Tre Kronor Association as an active member.

Our mission is to support activities related to the shipTre Kronor af Stockholm andto promote interest in maritime culture.

In addition to the board, which works on a volunteer basis, the association has a number of volunteer groups:

THE CREW

The crew of the Tre Kronorare volunteers. A large number of them serve as deckhands or senior deckhands. Other positions require formal qualifications such as captain, mate, seaman, deckhand, etc., along with STCW safety training and experience and familiarity with similar vessels. In addition to these, a purser and a cook are needed for passenger voyages. Starting with the 2024 season, the entire crew will primarily be working on a volunteer basis.

To be eligible for a position as a deckhand, you must meet the following requirements:

Some sailing or maritime experience is a plus.
You’ll be rewarded with wonderful experiences, great food, and a place to sleep.

Special information for new stewards and chefs

OPEN SHIP GROUP

Shows visitors the ship and provides guided tours on board when it is in its home port during the off-season.
The group provides various forms of support during maintenance work and organizes and staffs various events, such as the boat show in Stockholm.

RIGGING AND MAINTENANCE TEAM

We provide maintenance services and manufacture rigging components, among other things. The team has extensive experience in traditional shipbuilding work. We are based in our well-equipped rigging workshop on Kastellholmen.

THE BRIGGENBLADET

The editorial team works on a volunteer basis and produces the member magazine *Briggenbladet*, which is published four times a year. To join the editorial team, we prefer that you have some form of media experience or are a somewhat more experienced writer who can handle editing.

MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS

This is one of the board’s internal working groups that works across a variety of channels. We are looking for members who want to get involved and who have specific expertise in communication. This may include print and display production, printed materials, image management, digital communication—including advanced knowledge of WordPress—newsletter production, and social media communication.
