Across the Baltic Sea – Offshore Sailing Tallinn – Norrtälje August 3 – 7
Welcome aboard Briggen Tre Kronor for a five-day sailing adventure where we will experience true sea sailing as it was in the past.
After boarding in Tallinn, we cast off and head out to sea. After setting sail together, we set course for the open sea and the free horizon. Soon we will have left land behind, alone with the waves and the wind. At sea, the voyage continues through the night, and those who don't want to be rocked to sleep by the waves can try becoming part of the crew and sailing the ship through the summer night. The voyage to Norrtälje is a true sea sailing of almost 150 nautical miles across the open sea, or even more if we choose one of the old archipelago routes that offer diverse environments and many exciting opportunities for stops along the way.
We let the weather, wind, and our desires guide our route choices. Either we stay out on the open sea, or we venture into narrow and sheltered waters.
If the winds are light, this can be an opportunity to experience true sea sailing as it was in the past, when one stood watch after watch, lost track of the days, and the outside world imperceptibly faded away, only to be reminded of it again when the scent of land returned, just before it came into sight.
With more wind, the sailing is faster, and we have the opportunity to choose one of the winding and sheltered postal routes through the Finnish, Åland, and Swedish archipelagos, where people have traveled and sent their dispatches throughout time, in all weathers. Perhaps we'll wake up with Finnish outer islands on the horizon, or end the day by finding a night harbor in a small cove among tiny archipelago homesteads on the inner islands. Regardless, a wonderful sailing and nature experience is promised.
Those who wish can actively participate in sailing alongside the crew. Those who prefer to lean back with a cup of coffee and a good book will soon find a comfortable spot on deck to stretch their legs and gaze out over the horizon. Soon, we will all have settled into the pleasant rhythm of a sailing ship underway, where life is small and simple, and the outside world slowly fades away. Enjoy the sailing, leave everyday life and the mainland behind for a while, and let the ocean waves rock you.
Once we arrive in Norrtälje, we say goodbye for now and go ashore after experiencing a few days living in tune with nature, cradled in the sea's embrace. We dare to promise some wonderful days onboard with new friendships, experiences, memories, and perhaps a desire to come aboard again.
About Life On Board
During the day, as a guest, you’re warmly welcome to help sail as much as you’d like, or sit back and simply enjoy the experience, the company, and the surroundings—perhaps with a good book and a cup of coffee. Our dedicated crew will help you get settled, tell you about life on board, and let anyone who wants to help sail the ship.
Together with other guests and the crew, you’ll form a diverse group, both in age and background. This usually leads to a friendly and cozy atmosphere on board where everyone feels welcome.
Good food is an important part of life at sea, and our talented chef will serve you all your meals—and snacks in between! We promise you won’t be disappointed. Please remember to let us know about any allergies or special dietary needs when booking!
You’ll sleep in a regular bed in our comfortable 2- or 4-berth cabins, which you’ll share with your fellow passengers. On board, you’ll find most of the amenities we’re used to: electrical outlets, a toilet, a shower, laundry facilities, and more.
