Adventure Sailing for 16 – 21 year olds Nynäshamn – Mariehamn July 20 – 24

Welcome aboard Briggen Tre Kronor for a five-day sailing adventure for young adults and adults. Try a new way to hang out, make new friends, and sail a large vessel together to foreign ports. For those aged approximately 16 – 21.
After boarding in Nynäshamn, we cast off and set course for Åland and its capital, Mariehamn. Together with the ship's young crew, we learn to sail the vessel; climbing the rigging, setting sails, steering, and everything else that comes with life at sea. We are divided into watches, get our own bunks, get to know our cabin mates, and quickly settle into life on board. When the first day at sea ends, we are all tired but excited for tomorrow. We end up cooling off with an evening swim from the boat, and then we sit in the sunset, talking about all the new experiences.
The next morning, we start with a good breakfast! We all help each other cook, and perhaps someone was up early to make pancakes! We still have many nautical miles ahead of us across the open sea and among the Åland islands on the other side. We are now starting to feel at home on board, getting to know each other well, and have settled into the special sense of community on a sailing ship underway. Perhaps this is where the expression “to be in the same boat” originated.
During the week, we will cover more than 100 nautical miles through both the archipelago and across the open sea. When sailing in sheltered waters, we constantly help each other maneuver the ship between islands and skerries, and there is plenty to do! Here, there are many opportunities to go ashore and discover new places, swimming cliffs, and exciting islands. At sea, life is calmer; we get to experience watch duty, taking turns with others in our watch to stay awake and sail the ship around the clock while everyone else sleeps. Here, there will be plenty of time to talk, get to know each other better, but also to learn more about sailing and life at sea.
Upon arrival in Mariehamn, we are met with hustle and bustle; a large music festival is underway in the summer city, and a newly built sailing schooner, also sailing with young people, is to be launched in the coming days. Of course, we will be there to celebrate! Together with the crew, we go ashore and discover the city, its various activities, and sights.
When we part ways, it is with the knowledge that this might just have been the first time on board.

About Life On Board

As a participant, you are involved in everything that happens on board and quickly become part of the crew. Together, we handle all communal tasks: we sail, clean, climb the rigging, wash dishes, swim, and get to know each other. In between, there is, of course, time to simply enjoy the experience, the camaraderie, and life at sea. Perhaps with a guitar, a good book, or a cup of coffee. Our young and dedicated crew will help you settle in, tell you about life on board, and ensure everyone gets to participate and learn to sail the ship.
Together with the other participants and the crew, you will form a diverse group. This usually leads to a familiar and pleasant atmosphere, with a strong sense of community where everyone feels included.
No prior experience is required to join, but a willingness to learn is essential. Even if some have sailed before, we now face something new as we learn to collectively handle a large square-rigged vessel, which primarily relies on skillful teamwork.
Good food is an important part of life at sea, and together with our skilled chef, we prepare all meals on board, with fika (coffee break) in between! We dare to promise you won't be disappointed. Remember to notify us of any allergies or special dietary requirements when booking!
You will sleep in a regular bed in our comfortable 2- or 4-berth cabins, shared with your fellow sailors. Most of the amenities we are used to are available on board: power outlets, toilets, showers, laundry facilities, etc.
