Åland Sea – Expedition where the Archipelago Ends August 10 – 14

Welcome aboard the brig Tre Kronor for a four-day relaxing sailing adventure as we cruise across the Sea of Åland on a voyage of discovery to the edge of the archipelago.

After signing on in Norrtälje, we cast off, set sail, and head out toward the archipelago’s northernmost outpost. The voyage takes us through Stockholm’s northernmost archipelago and out into the Sea of Åland, along the Åland or Swedish coast, finally reaching Öregrund, the beautiful outpost that marks the border with the Bothnian Sea. Along the way, we’ll search for hidden gems along the coast—and sail wherever the winds take us!

If you’d like, you can actively participate in the sailing alongside the crew. If you’d rather sit back with a cup of coffee and a good book, you’ll soon find a comfortable spot on deck to stretch your legs and gaze out over the horizon. Before long, we’ll all have settled into the pleasant rhythm of life aboard a sailing ship, where life is simple and unhurried, and the world outside slowly fades away. Enjoy the sailing, leave everyday life and the mainland behind for a while, and let the ocean waves rock you.

During the day, we’ll cruise between islets and skerries or out across the open sea, enjoying the sound of the wind and good food on board as we search for a new harbor for the night. Perhaps we’ll decide to stay awake, head out to sea, and seek our fortune on a new coast. Those who wish can then try their hand at a night watch and steer the ship under the stars, or let the waves lull them to sleep. We’ll start the evenings with a good dinner, then socialize on board or go ashore to explore. Perhaps someone has found a sauna, and suddenly the desire for a swim under the stars is awakened now that the evenings have begun to grow dark…
Back on the mainland, we’ll say our goodbyes for now in Öregrund. Here, those who wish can visit the local seaside resort days, a summer festival centered around the town’s history of refreshing sea baths. Regardless, we part ways with our bags filled with new friendships, memories, and perhaps a taste for more of the sea.

During the day, as a guest, you’re warmly welcome to help sail as much as you’d like, or sit back and simply enjoy the experience, the company, and the surroundings—perhaps with a good book and a cup of coffee. Our dedicated crew will help you get settled, tell you about life on board, and let anyone who wants to help sail the ship.
Together with other guests and the crew, you’ll form a diverse group, both in age and background. This usually leads to a friendly and cozy atmosphere on board where everyone feels welcome.
Good food is an important part of life at sea, and our talented chef will serve you all your meals—and snacks in between! We promise you won’t be disappointed. Please remember to let us know about any allergies or special dietary needs when booking!
You’ll sleep in a regular bed in our comfortable 2- or 4-berth cabins, which you’ll share with your fellow passengers. On board, you’ll find most of the amenities we’re used to: electrical outlets, a toilet, a shower, laundry facilities, and more.
